Hanyang Technology Secures ¥200 Million in Financing, Leading the Future of Smart Yard Maintenance Robots

Published: March 05, 2025 18:06

On March 3, Hanyang Technology successfully secured a ¥200 million financing round, led by the influential Yuantai Fund, with multiple well-known industry and financial investors following suit. This investment reflects strong market confidence in Hanyang Technology's growth potential. The funds raised will primarily be used to enhance supply chain efficiency, improve mass production capabilities, boost R&D investment, and accelerate product iteration and optimization.

Pioneering the Smart Yard Robot Industry

Founded in 2015, Hanyang Technology specializes in developing, manufacturing, and selling consumer-grade intelligent yard maintenance robots, aiming to provide high-quality, electrified, smart, and autonomous yard maintenance solutions.

In Europe and North America, backyard maintenance is a lucrative, untapped market, with yard robots emerging as a game-changing solution. Among them, lawn-mowing robots, pool-cleaning robots, and snow-clearing robots are the dominant players in their respective segments.

Lawn-Mowing Robots: A High-Growth Market

With a strong "lawn culture" in Western countries, the global market for robotic lawn mowers is expanding rapidly. There are approximately 500 million private yards worldwide, with market penetration rates ranging from 5% to 30% depending on the region. According to Precedence Research, the robotic lawn mower market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 15.5%, reaching $3.5 billion by 2028.

Pool-Cleaning Robots: A Blue Ocean Opportunity

There are around 30 million private pools globally, with over 90% located in North America and Europe. The high labor costs of manual pool cleaning, averaging $100 to $300 per session, create a significant market opportunity for automated pool-cleaning robots. According to QYR research, the pool-cleaning robot market is expected to reach $1.73 billion by 2031, growing at a CAGR of 8.0%.

Snow-Clearing Robots: An Underserved Market

In high-latitude countries such as the United States and Canada, laws mandate snow removal, while labor shortages and high costs (estimated at $20 billion annually) are driving demand for autonomous snow-clearing robots. Unlike the highly competitive lawn-mowing and pool-cleaning segments, the snow-clearing robot market remains relatively untapped, where Hanyang Technology has emerged as a leader.

Yarbo: Revolutionizing Smart Yard Maintenance

Hanyang Technology has pioneered the world’s first consumer-grade modular yard robot and was the first to launch a consumer-grade snow-clearing robot. In 2021, the company unveiled Snowbot S1, the world's first smart home snow-clearing robot.

Rebranded as Yarbo in 2022, the company raised $1 million within an hour of its crowdfunding campaign, eventually securing $3.45 million, making it the highest-funded consumer robotics project globally. In 2023, Yarbo successfully mass-produced and delivered over 1,000 snow-clearing robots worldwide.

Yarbo's multi-functional yard robot, powered by advanced AI and computer vision, supports modular attachments for snow-clearing, lawn-mowing, leaf-blowing, salt-spreading, and liquid spraying. The system offers seamless automation, wireless operation, and real-time yard security monitoring, even allowing users to stream live footage to VR headsets.

A Rapidly Growing Market Leader

With hundreds of patents, Hanyang Technology holds the fastest-growing global patent portfolio in snow-clearing robotics. By December 2024, Yarbo had sold over 6,000 units, generating over $25 million in revenue. In 2025, the company expects to ship tens of thousands of units, maintaining a 10x annual growth rate for the third consecutive year.

Although snow-clearing robots are still in their early market stages, they hold immense potential due to rising labor costs, frequent snowfall, and evolving regulations. With advancements in AI, cost reduction, and growing consumer acceptance of smart home solutions, Yarbo is poised to become a dominant player in the future of yard maintenance automation.
