Global First Humanoid Robot Front Flip Draws Attention, ENGINEAI Secures Investment from Middle Eastern Capital
Published: February 26, 2025 18:09
Recently, a robot capable of performing a front flip has gone viral online, quickly catching the attention of the public.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that this remarkable robot is from ENGINEAI, a Chinese robotics company. Established in October 2023, ENGINEAI has achieved remarkable success in the robotics research and development field in just a few short months. The company specializes in the development and production of general-purpose intelligent robots and industry-specific application solutions. Its product line includes humanoid robots, service robots, and embodied intelligent robots. Since its founding, ENGINEAI has not only made breakthroughs in the domestic market but is also striving to establish a foothold in the international market.
In terms of technological innovation, ENGINEAI has continued to push boundaries. Recently, they achieved a significant milestone by completing the world’s first front flip by a humanoid robot. This accomplishment showcases the company’s expertise in high-dynamic control, motion planning, and other technical fields, further cementing ENGINEAI's standing as a leader in the industry. Such breakthroughs enhance the company’s technological influence and lay a strong foundation for future product applications and market demand.
Since the third quarter of last year, ENGINEAI has released four key robotic products, covering bipedal robots, humanoid robots, and embodied intelligent robots:
General-Purpose Humanoid Robot SE01: As the flagship product of ENGINEAI, SE01 stands 170 cm tall, weighs approximately 55 kg, and has 32 degrees of freedom. With a maximum joint torque of 330 N·m and a walking speed of up to 2 m/s, SE01 can perform various human-like actions such as squats, push-ups, spinning, and grabbing, making it an advanced robot with both high flexibility and realism.
General-Purpose Humanoid Robot SA01: This robot weighs about 40 kg, with six degrees of freedom per leg. The knee joint has a maximum torque of 160 Nm, and the ankle joint can reach up to 96 Nm. The SA01 can perform complex movements like one-legged standing, running, and jumping, with a maximum joint speed of 28 rad/s, priced starting at 38,500 RMB. It excels in motion capabilities and can adapt to a variety of complex environments, making it ideal for educational, research, and precision motion control applications.
New Generation of Open-source Humanoid Robot PM01: The PM01 stands 1.38 m tall, weighs around 40 kg, and has 24 degrees of freedom. Capable of moving at 2 m/s, it offers two walking modes: mechanical gait and humanoid natural gait. Its humanoid walking performance rivals that of the flagship SE01 model, with a starting price of 88,000 RMB.
Original IP Service Robot S2: Developed based on the SA01 platform, the S2 features an upper body and arms, designed for applications in cultural tourism, guides, and more. The S2 can transform into various creative IP characters and offers features like voice recognition and interactive experiences, making it ideal for use in public spaces and tourist attractions.
In humanoid robotics, achieving natural walking gaits has long been a technical challenge. ENGINEAI has overcome this difficulty with innovative motion control technology, solving the issue of stiff or unnatural walking patterns found in many robots. The SE01 robot has achieved the first truly natural walking gait in the world, improving its adaptability and usability in real-world environments, making it more suited for a wide range of applications.
Additionally, ENGINEAI has made significant progress in mass production. The SA01 bipedal robot has already secured over 100 orders and is being delivered as planned. Meanwhile, the PM01 humanoid robot is actively accumulating orders and is in the preparation phase for mass production, with shipments expected to begin in the second quarter of 2025. With continuous technological innovation and growing market demand, ENGINEAI is set to play a leading role in the rapid development of the robotics industry.
Middle Eastern Capital Investment As a high-tech industry, robotics naturally attracts significant investment. Recently, rumors surfaced that ENGINEAI would receive investment from Middle Eastern capital. On February 25, a media outlet confirmed that the company had successfully completed a new round of financing, raising hundreds of millions of RMB, with the funds primarily coming from the Middle East.
Public records show that ENGINEAI's shareholder structure underwent a notable change on February 12. New shareholders include Sailing Ltd, Stone Robotics L.L.C-FZ, and Guoxiang Capital, among others. Furthermore, the company's registered capital increased from approximately 1.345 million RMB to 1.723 million RMB, reflecting a 28% growth. This change further underscores the injection of external capital, which will provide stronger financial support for the company’s future development.
At the same time, ENGINEAI's board of directors welcomed a new member, Mohamed Abdulaziz Ahmed Alsawaleh Alshehhi, who joined as a new director. This move signifies not only a financial investment but also potential strategic collaboration. With the addition of Middle Eastern capital, ENGINEAI is poised to gain additional strategic support and resources as it expands globally, particularly in the Middle East and other international markets.
This financing and the adjustments to ENGINEAI's shareholder structure highlight a significant strengthening of the company’s financial and resource capabilities. It also marks an acceleration in its global market expansion. The involvement of Middle Eastern capital provides not just financial backing but also opens doors for ENGINEAI to tap into the Middle Eastern and broader international markets, establishing a stronger foothold in the competitive global robotics industry.
