Two More Robotics Startups Enter the Industry, Each Securing Over 100 Million RMB in Funding!

Published: February 19, 2025 17:55

At present, embodied intelligence has become a focal point in both the research and business sectors, attracting the attention of countless entrepreneurs and investors.

Recently, Apptronik, a company focusing on humanoid robot development, successfully secured $350 million (approximately 2.55 billion RMB) in Series A funding. This reflects the global capital's strong optimism towards the embodied intelligence sector, with continuous investments driving rapid development in this industry.

Two promising robotics startups — Lingbao CASBOT and X Square Robot Robotics — have made remarkable achievements in both funding and technological breakthroughs, injecting new vitality into the industry's development.

Lingbao CASBOT Secures Over 100 Million RMB in Funding

Recently, Beijing Zhongke Huiling Robotics Technology Co., Ltd. ( Lingbao CASBOT) successfully completed its angel round funding of over 100 million RMB.

The list of investors is impressive, including tech giant Lenovo Capital, the influential State-owned Guotou Chuanghe, and Henan Asset Fund, among others. This funding will inject strong momentum into Lingbao CASBOT, primarily accelerating the mass production process of humanoid robots and deeply developing core technologies, helping the company make significant strides in the fiercely competitive intelligent robotics field and opening up broader development space.

Founded in 2023, Lingbao CASBOT has been focusing on the practical application of general-purpose humanoid robots and embodied intelligence, with a clear goal: to use cutting-edge AI and robotics technology to create humanoid robots and embodied intelligence products capable of replacing humans in high-risk, high-intensity, and repetitive tasks.

In its R&D process, Lingbao CASBOT follows the core development principles of "FAD" Flexible, Agile, and Dexterous — aiming to create versatile robots that can be widely applied in various scenarios, including industrial production, household services, and energy-specific fields, all with comprehensive operational abilities.

Notably, the founding team of Lingbao CASBOT consists of industry elites with rich experience in fields such as intelligent robotics, precision assembly, visual servoing, and robot skill learning.

Thanks to the team's profound technical foundation and relentless efforts, Lingbao CASBOT successfully released its first full-size bipedal humanoid robot product, CASBOT01, just one year after its establishment. This achievement adds a new member to the domestic humanoid robot family. It is reported that this robot has already been introduced into Lenovo’s intelligent manufacturing factories for trials, with the potential to significantly improve factory automation levels.

Additionally, Lingbao CASBOT co-founder and COO Zhang Miao publicly revealed that CASBOT01 is expected to achieve small-scale mass production in 2025.

Currently, Lingbao CASBOT has successfully established a strong network of partners across various fields, including aerospace, maritime, emergency rescue, underground operations, industrial manufacturing, and commercial services.

X Square Robot Secures Hundreds of Millions in Funding

Recently, X Square Robot officially announced that it has completed a Pre-A++ round of funding, raising hundreds of millions of RMB.

This funding round saw the strong leadership of Lightspeed Lightcurve and Junlian Capital, with follow-up investments from Beijing Robotics Industry Fund and Shenqi Capital. The funds will be used precisely for the training and scene deployment of the next-generation unified embodied intelligence general models.

A noteworthy aspect is that this investment marks Lightspeed Lightcurve's first move into the embodied intelligence large model direction. The participation of the state-owned Beijing Robotics Industry Fund further highlights the significance of this funding.

Looking back at X Square Robots' funding journey, it has been progressing at a rapid pace. In January and April of last year, the company successfully completed angel rounds and angel+ rounds, raising several tens of millions RMB and quickly gaining recognition in the industry.

In November of the same year, X Square Robot continued its momentum, completing Pre-A and Pre-A+ rounds, with a total funding of over 100 million RMB. These rounds attracted participation from numerous well-known investment institutions such as Qifu Capital, Nanshan New Venture, Jiuhui Ventures, Delian Capital, Foundation Capital, and Shuimu Tsinghua Alumni Fund.

Founded in December 2023, X Square Robot is a startup focusing on the embodied intelligence field, committed to building a unified brain-cerebellum system for robots through the development of general large embodied intelligence models. This approach aims to provide end-to-end capabilities from perception to action, ultimately achieving the goal of universal robots.

The X Square self-developed robotic general model platform integrates multimodal large models, robot control large models (Large Manipulation Models), and the robots' physical bodies.

Last year, X Square Robot introduced its Great Wall series (GW) WALL-A model, which is the world's largest parameter-scale general embodied intelligence model for operations.

The ultimate vision for general-purpose robots is high human-like intelligence. When facing scenario transitions, they should be able to adapt quickly and apply existing knowledge flexibly. Achieving this goal requires overcoming technical challenges and developing advanced general embodied intelligence models.

Currently, the foundational models developed by the company are at the world-leading level, with powerful training capabilities that enable robots to perform complex and intricate physical operations.

In demonstrations by X Square Robot, the X Square dual-arm robot acts like a well-trained "life assistant," methodically executing a series of complex tasks. Whether folding clothes, cutting vegetables, pouring water, hanging clothes, watering plants, or performing more intricate tasks like slicing ham, cutting cucumbers, wiping off stains from a countertop, or using a spoon to scoop fruit powder from a jar to make juice, it handles these tasks with ease, showcasing impressive generalization performance.
