Recently at Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) 2025, CALB unveiled the world's first marine 2C fast-charging battery system, addressing range anxiety in electric vessels with breakthrough technology that delivers "6 hours of operation from just 15 minutes of charging." This innovative product, equipped with L173F163 2C fast-charging cells, has secured certifications from four major international maritime classification societies—CCS, DNV, ABS, and RINA—and introduces modular containerized power design that propels the global shipping industry into a "supercharging era."

The L173F163 battery cells developed by CALB utilize low-expansion graphite technology to reduce lithium plating risks, combined with high-kinetics electrolytes to enhance ion migration efficiency, achieving sustained 2C charging with peak capabilities of 4C charge-discharge rates.
The battery system based on these cells can replenish 80% capacity in just 15 minutes, doubling the efficiency compared to traditional 1C charging solutions—an ideal fit for high-frequency, short-distance port operation vessels. Through advanced anode material surface treatment with low-defect processing technology, the battery system maintains a cycle life exceeding 5,000 cycles even under 2C fast-charging conditions, outperforming industry averages by 30%. The complementary walk-in containerized power system integrates smart robotic module replacement, reducing module exchange time to just 5 minutes and improving maintenance efficiency by 60%.
Also showcased was the L173F320 long-life battery cell featuring high-density, high-capacity cathode materials that enable system lifespans exceeding 12 years, suitable for long-cycle operational scenarios such as ocean-going cargo vessels. This product has completed the world's first full-cycle validation from development to certification to mass production for marine battery applications.
Previously, the world's largest pure electric container vessel, "COSCO SHIPPING Green Water 01," equipped with 36 containerized battery units from CALB—equivalent to the battery capacity of 800 electric vehicles—has successfully completed all-electric voyages on the Nanjing-Shanghai Yangshan Port route, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2,362 tons annually.
The innovative battery-swapping model increases vessel range extensibility by 300%. At the launch event, CALB Chairwoman Liu Jingyu announced the "Blue Ocean Alliance Initiative," which aims to partner with 50 global shipping companies and 30 ports over the next three years to establish a standardized ecosystem for electric vessels.
This maritime power revolution triggered by 2C fast-charging technology will not only rewrite the fuel cost formula of 0.35 yuan per nautical mile but also marks the strategic upgrade of Chinese battery enterprises from "product export" to "technical standard export." As the Q3 2025 mass production milestone approaches, this "supercharging wave" of green shipping is spreading globally from Singapore.
